Look at us!

It was the night before Robes and Kim got married in Atlanta (October of 1983--4 years before this photo). We were at Kim's parents' home in Dahlonega, GA, having an open house. One of Kim's aunts asked me if we were adopted.

I was so intrigued; I had NEVER been asked that question.

My reply, "Why do you ask?"

She said, "Because you call your parents by their first names."

Cute story.
Harrison called Harry, Harry before he learned to say daddy. I use to think it was so funny. He now calls him Harry and me Gigi that's why the Grand~girls call me Gigi instead of grandma. I like it now and they can't change it either.

When I read "To Kill a Mockingbird" I started calling my dad by his first name. Somehow "Gerald" didn't sound as cool as "Atticus" so I went back to "Dad." But I always felt envious of the kids who were on a first-name basis with their folks!

So, enquiring minds want to know, how did calling your parents by their first names come to be?

Yes, thrir first names, but aren't they nicknames, too? From the Nancy comic strip? Nancy and Sluggo. Do you call him Bob now? I thought you called him Sluggo and her Nan.

And you need to remind us what you calls those pants. Not just NanJans. The full name.

I have a sister and brother with red hair and we used to tell people they were adopted. Kids usually believed us which is pretty silly considering they look just like us but with different hair color.

Thanks for the recipes. I'm excited to try them out and happy they are small enough to fit in my computer bag!

Me too! And they don't appreciate it very much. But we're all adults now, right?

Gracie has already started calling me Mindy sometimes! I used to call my Mom "Grandma" when I needed her attention as that seemed to get a quicker response than "Mom" did. And as we all know (who are not blind), there is no way any of you four were adopted!!
