A few friends went to dinner tonight at one of our friend Judy's favorite places--Sound Bites in Somerville. Judy passed away a year and a half ago from cancer and her birthday is this week. That's the ole omelet, home fries and a fried corn muffin. #weallmissjudy #arlingtonwardfriendsareforever
I was in line to get fabric cut at Hobby Lobby on Saturday and the lady behind me had this cool camera fabric so I got a yard of it. It turned out to be the perfect fabric for a drawstring bag I was making. #ilovetosew
I asked my friend if I could take some photos of her kids a few weeks ago for a "project". I ended up taking all the photos with her in them and this was one of my faves. I ordered some reprints and made some cards for her and left them on her porch last night. She texted me that the only other photo of her with her kids was one I took at the Boston Marathon. I love her little boy's finger in her hand. #mothersday
I rambled up to Antique Alley on Route 4 in NH this afternoon. I only went in 2 stores (I think a bunch of stores have closed since I was last there) and bought one thing: that gold Pyrex bowl for $4. #epramblesaroundnewengland2017
Can't say no to a fresh pita. They messed up my order of Greek donuts and poured honey and Nutella on them so I said forget it and got my money back. And then @alleyb5 shared hers with me. #arlingtonwardfriendsareforever #greekdonutsandnutellaareforever #saloniki
I have been to Bryce and Zion since this trip but it's been YEARS. I *might* find myself in southern Utah Memorial Day weekend so I'm looking for the Lazy Gal's guide to southern Utah's National Parks. I don't want to hear about any 4-hour hikes, those slot canyons or Angels Landing (I just googled Angels Landing: NOT FOR THE FAINT HEARTED. MORE FOR THE DIE HARDED--yeah, NO). What about a 20-minute paved walk where I won't break a sweat? Or seeing the wonders of the National Parks from the comforts of a rental car? And while we're at it I'd love to hear any suggestions for food and fabric shops in the area. #pattonmemories #wherearemytennisshoes #brycecanyon #whereisrobert #stillaskingthatquestion
Tonight after work I went to visit my friend Maggie who had surgery almost two weeks ago. These notes caught my eye as I was leaving. Maggie's five year old daughter made them for her return from the hospital. They all say "Mom". That's love.
The fabric is cut and ready to go. Do you think I like circles? This time I'm laying it all out before I start sewing. Good thing I have a big living room floor. The fabric second from the top on the right inspired this quilt. #ilovetosew #epquilts
Gather Here in Cambridge is the coolest store with great fabric and they are open until 9pm. For those of you outside New England, that's huge! I got some great blue and green fabric for a project. #ilovetosew
On coworker said I was on point with my polka dots, another said I looked good in red, and a student in the hallway said she liked me shirt. #talbots #ireallyshouldusemyiron #mymetgalainvitemusthavegottenlostinthemail #ashirtienotaselfie
I've been doing a food/exercise challenge (inspired by @carolynsipherd) with my friend @jennvieira10. You choose your own goals and if you don't meet them you pay the other person ten bucks. The other night I couldn't help it and ate at 10pm (Frosted Flakes) so I made sure I had $10 today to give to Jenn. Turns out she only did 2 workouts instead of 3 so were even! #keepthemoney #greenongreen
My view as I sit in the worst traffic. Between road closures, cars broken down and traffic lights out, it's probably been the worst commute ever. And to top it off, someone was trying to back out of the parking garage. It took me 1 hour and 45 minutes to go 12 miles. Boston/Cambridge commuting is not for the faint of heart. #passthebloodpressuremedsrightova #epcommutes
I was born and raised in Van Nuys, California. I moved to Boston sight-unseen and have loved living in New England since that day when I said, "this apartment is OLD". My hobbies are antiquing, reading books and magazines (bring back Blueprint and Domino please), sewing, quilting, sightseeing, watching movies, and photography. I love the color red and have a retro red refrigerator (and kitchen aid mixer and ice cream maker and toaster and...) to prove it! I live in a converted high school and love decorating my loft condo (w/ 18 foot ceilings) that was formerly the auditorium. I have 3 brothers, 11 nieces and nephews, and a bus fleet of friends.
