#epupdatesherkitchen

I'm starting to make some decisions (gray shaker cabinets? convection oven? stainless steel countertops?) and am really excited.  Ian ripped up the checkerboard linoleum floor so there's no turning back now!!!  #epupdatesherkitchen #epcondo2018

Madi Knight's memorial

Madi's memorial service tonight was beautiful.  A choir of young women sang "Peace in Christ" that was unbelievable.  I felt honored to hear about her life and what an amazing girl she was. #cambridgestakefriendsareforever #nobeehiveshoulddieofabraintumor

#thiskidmademeanaunt

I had Mary Martha take a photo of Ian and I before he leaves tomorrow.  It's been so great having him here and being able to spend ten days together.  It's been a gift.  #ilovebeinganaunt #thiskidmademeanaunt #pattonmemories #mesoshort

It was really fun to have dinner with the Checketts tonight.  I made Charles and Clyde elephants for their birthdays.  #bostonfriendsarethebestfriends

Ian re-did the shelving in my bedroom closet.  I'm crazy about it!  Why didn't I do this 12 years ago?!? #iantotherescue #ihavetoomanyclothesstill

I'm *finally* feeling better

I planned to write a post about how it sucks being single+sick but honestly the worst thing is trying to not pee every time I cough.  #epeeeeeeeeee #keepingitreal #epcondo2018 Photo cred: Ian Patton

My handyman

I have loved having Ian here.  I don't think we'd seen each other in over five years (that's too long!).  He's driven me to work the last two days, is great company, has carried all the take-out in and we're starting some condo projects (photos coming soon).  I love being an aunt.  #pattonmemories

TBT: returning from Montreal

I am crossing Lake Champlain with Ian on our way back from Montreal when he was about 6.  I was hoping to take Ian to Quebec City this week (neither of us have been there) but I was too sick to travel that far.  Plus we would have needed a wig and an eye patch to recreate this photo.  #pattonmemories #thiskidmademeanaunt

An afternoon in Maine

It's 76 degrees today so we spent the afternoon in Maine.  Ian hadn't been there in years and he loved the beaches and Nubble Light.  He had his FIRST lobster roll ever and said it was the best meal he's had in a year.  #pattonmemories

Dinner with the LaPierres

Ian and I had dinner with the LaPierres tonight and it was wonderful.  Lee and Dottie presided over the Posadas Mission in Argentina and Ian served in Posadas which was in his mission (Resistencia).  I wish our ward hadn't been split 9+ years ago (I'm obviously not over it); I really miss my friends.  #arlingtonwardfriendsareforever #ilovethelapierres

This flu is no jok

The first store I went to was sold out of masks so I went to another.  I picked up a thermometer (good for oral, rectal or underarm use) while I was there.  This flu is no joke.  I've had it for six long days.  I've got cabin/condo fever and am ready to feel better.  #fluseason2018 #ephatesbeingsick

Things I love

I love sewing and writing notes.  And I'm crazy about this fabric.  #thereisacardinside #ilovetosew #andwritenotes Fabric: beauty shop by Melody Miller for Cotton+Steel P.S.  I made one of these for me.  I had to.

I'm sick

I got hit with the horrible flu and have been under these 4 blankets for about 60 hours.  This flu is no joke and yes--I got a flu shot.  I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy if I had one.  I had a busy weekend planned (take some family photos, sew some stuffed elephants, make valentine sugar cookies for my friend who is putting together packages for the homeless, create a gift for my friend on the 7th anniversary of her husband's death).  The only thing I did on my list was sleep cuz alls I did was sleep.  I'm freshened up and feeling better (not 100%) and ready to eat a meal.  And maybe do a bit of sewing.  #ihatebeingsick #4blankets #toosicktoreadPeopleinonesitting

TBT: Robes memory

My brother Robes covered the NBA All-Star game in New York City 20 years ago today (he was a sports writer covering the Miami Heat for the Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel). He invited me and my parents to join him for the weekend. He and I went to a Stevie Wonder concert and we all went to something at Madison Square Garden (slam dunk contest? rookie game?) but he couldn’t get us tickets to the actual game. We attended church at Lincoln Center Sunday morning and that might have been my first time attending church in that amazing building. I remember him pointing out Dave Checketts who was sitting a few rows in front of us in sacrament meeting. Robes got a red duffle bag for me that had the all-star game logo on it and it had this black frame and photo album in it (did they call it swag back then?). Robes was feeling well enough to work and travel though about six weeks after this things started to go downhill and he passed away about six months later. I’ll always remember this fun weekend and I love this photo my parents took of us in our hotel room. Can you see his gray brain tumor awareness pin on his lapel? #pattonmemories #ihatebraintumors #imissmybrothereveryday
