Where do you hide a Vermeer?

Eighteen years ago today 13 pieces of priceless artwork were stolen from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston.  Here is a recent Boston Globe article about it.

I just don't understand where you would hide stolen paintings by Vermeer and Rembrandt or sketches by Degas?  I have some artwork stashed behind my TV cabinet but it's not stolen.

I thought of you today when the trees began to blossom. I remembered three years ago, being desperate to move away from the freezing weather and snow, and you brought pics of tree blossoms from your trip to Oregon for me.
Now I'd send a picture to you, but I am not nearly the photographer you are!
Happy spring-to-be!

Have you been there?
Because of a clause in Mrs. Gardner's will, they can't change anything in the museum permanent collection. Therefore, they have the frames empty where the paintings were stolen with a little note of explanation. It is very sad to see.

This is how you would find a Vermeer.
