Spring give-away!!!

To celebrate the beginning of Spring I'm having a give-away (even though it's not very Springy in Boston)! Leave a comment here -- what is your favorite thing about Spring? -- and I'll draw one of the comments at midnight Friday night (EST) and the winner will get an 8x12 of this gerbera daisy photo that I took a few years ago (my most popular photocard):

My favorite thing about spring is definitely tulips.

We never had them in So. Cal. They are my favorite flower. Although here, the deer eat them! Maybe I'll get some planted in the deer-proof backyard next year. In the meantime, they are half up and no deer for a couple days. So maybe we are in the clear.

I love going to the nursery and seeing all of the "presentations" of the flowers. The way the nursery people arrange them between fountains, around lily ponds, ... etc.
That's my favorite thing.
My favorite spring flower: poppies.

I love that the earth comes alive. The birds start to chirp, the animals come out, leaves start to bloom, flowers grow etc. The earth just becomes a very busy place. Not to mention beautiful.

I love spring!! I think my favorite thing about spring is that plants start to "wake up". The trees have leaves again, the grass is green, and flowers (my favorite) begin to appear!

I love watching the little buds on the trees and plants start to grow and expand into amazing creations. Love the colors, the smells, the sounds...

My favorite thing about spring is it's so refreshing. It always feels like a time of renewal...especially when I spring clean the house. Everything smells of lemon and the windows are open. It's just lovely. Ahh...

My favorite thing about spring is taking evening walks while being serenaded by the birds and having the smells of the flowers hit you as you walk by.

If only if felt like spring right now!

I love the the pink dogwoods in full bloom with their floating blossoms. Mt. Auburn Cemetery is full of them. It's heaven.

Waiting for the bulbs to push their way out of the semi-frozen earth, then watching them grow and bloom, day by day, is my favorite part of spring. The brave crocuses come first, blooming despite the winter weather still around them. Next comes hyacinth, then tulips and daffodils. I thought the squirrels dug up all my bulbs, but I'm pleasantly surprised to see shafts of green peeking up all over my garden. Happy first day of spring!

When we lived in Arlington right by the resevoir we would cheer at the first sight of the swans returning after winter.
I also love to see the leaves grow from the smallest speck to vibrant and green.
Blossoming trees and the first blossoming bulbs are the most cheerful introduction to spring.
AND I absolutely love being able to enjoy the outdoors more often.
New England has a beautiful spring!

My favorite thing about spring is that it is finally getting warm enough to go outside and play after being stuck inside with the cold nasty weather all winter. Clarissa loves playing outside and is so much happier when she can get out and run around.

My favorite thing is being able to leave the house without taking a coat, hat, scarf and gloves. It feels so light and easy!

My Favorite Spring Thing: the smell of dirt as it thaws out. I also love the smell of a freshly mulched yard.

My favorite thing about spring is FINALLY being able to be outside -- more than just rushing to and from your car. I love when the kids can play outside, I love eating outside, I love walking outside... There's nothing better!

My favorite thing about spring is opening all of the windows and getting a great cross breeze through the house. I especially wish for this after steaming
broccoli!

1. It is my birthday.
2. You can finally shake off all of the stodginess of winter. There is a time to start waking up, getting involved, and things are starting to grow. You start to feel alive again.
3. MARCH MADNESS!!! Woo hoo!! Go Huskies!!

I love being able to leave my windows open, and feeling the breeze... for a few weeks, anyway, until I have to shut them while the A/C is on. (I live in Las Vegas). :)

my favorite thing about spring is walking outside and feeling the spring air sting your face, and having the sensation run through you that all is fresh and new! (that really is all one thing, by the way!)

I love being outside and discovering neighbors (who you haven't seen all winter) are also out in their yards.

LIGHT! I love having more light at night. Something about it makes me more likely to strike up a conversation with a neighbor or play more outdoors with my kids. I love more light and more colors. It makes me feel more alive, less closed off from the world.

There are a lot of other things I love about spring, but everyone else has said them. It doesn't hurt that my birthday is in spring!

My favorite thing about spring is the ornamental pear trees that line our street. Their white flowers brightly announce the end of winter and soon after fall away (leaving our streets covered in white) to reveal tiny green leaves barely blooming. It is hard to put into words how amazingly quickly this happens and how beautiful it is.
