New Prophet
That's Elder John Patton with the Monsons at the MTC (that's the Missionary Training Center for you non-Mormon readers) in 1981. John loves a good brush with fame (Hollywood stars or religious leaders).
I stand corrected (I guess my brother does read my blog!). The picture was taken at a Stake Conference in Stockholm, Sweden in 1982.

Where is that at the MTC? I don't remember that building, especially after living there for two months and working there afterwards.
The Prophet came to visit us in Germany, or to visit the Frankfurt Mission, while he was serving as First Counselor. One of the Elders mentioned that when President Monson walks down the reception line shaking hands, he would use discernment to determine if a Missionary should remain, and at times he would simply tell the Elder or Sister to go home.
Now I don’t know if this is true, but I do know you that Ellen did not use discernment on the phone this morning when I accidentally called her at 7:50AM. Let me break it down…
E: Hello???
Mystery Caller (me): Yes, hello, iiiis Frankie there???
E: (click!)
Sorry for any inconvenience Ellen, I wasn’t tryin’ to a pull a Jerky Boys or anything!

You and Michael Jackson and now your brother and President Monson! I just can't keep up with you Pattons!
That is so fun! Although I'm guessing Mrs. Prophet (the prophetess?) wished this photo didn't exist.
i finally watched president hinckley's funeral online today while eric was at school. there wasn't a dry eye in the room! :)
