I started to enjoy baking when I was a teenager. My Grandmother Pitchforth loved to bake. Maybe it's genetic. Sometimes I'd want to start baking late at night and my dad would say "Sorry, the kitchen's closed".
Now that I'm on my own the kitchen is always open! Last week I bought 50 pounds of flour and 50 pounds of sugar...I wonder how long it will take me to empty these bags???
if you're like me a few weeks- Love the KA flour! I was sorely mocked by the shop and shopp checker when i bought 17 bags the other day- i didn't even try to explain food storage- just left it at "I bake alot" My neighbors son asked- "do you make cookies everyday?" answer... umm almost- I come by it genetically too- I was known in high school for carrying a white tupperware box aroudn wtih me and dispensing sugar cookies and cupcakes to all my friends-
Our Grandma did love to bake! Wouldn't it be great to sit in her kitchen again (at the green table) and clean raisens for cookies, or help her place the ONE chocolate chip in the center of each cookie. She was a grand lady. Cousin A
I'm catching up on your blogs for the month (and enjoying it)! I did some mylar bagging of sugar about a year ago and I just finished up the last one --- which meant that I used very little sugar.... (well, compared to you!)
I was born and raised in Van Nuys, California. I moved to Boston sight-unseen and have loved living in New England since that day when I said, "this apartment is OLD". My hobbies are antiquing, reading books and magazines (bring back Blueprint and Domino please), sewing, quilting, sightseeing, watching movies, and photography. I love the color red and have a retro red refrigerator (and kitchen aid mixer and ice cream maker and toaster and...) to prove it! I live in a converted high school and love decorating my loft condo (w/ 18 foot ceilings) that was formerly the auditorium. I have 3 brothers, 11 nieces and nephews, and a bus fleet of friends.
