No comment on how many thrift stores I went to today, how many items I bought or how much money I spent. But I'm Ellen, and I now shop at thrift stores.
Thrift stores are so great. I used to shop them a lot. In Santa Barbara, they were nearly as expensive as any regular store! Psh. Haven't been to any here.
Everything I ever wear is either given to me by someone or bought at thrift stores. I can't tell you how grateful I am for people who purchase cute clothes at retail stores, hardly use them, and donate them so that the likes of me can avoid being featured on What Not To Wear. I don't know who these people are, but I really do appreciate them...even though I don't understand their spending habits :-)
Goodwill and DI are the first places I stop. Can't tell you how many amazing finds I have had. Most my wardrobe and household items are secondhand finds. How cute is it to hear all three kids get excited and cheer about going to a thrift store....makes my heart melt! I can't wait for garage sale season to start!!!
I was born and raised in Van Nuys, California. I moved to Boston sight-unseen and have loved living in New England since that day when I said, "this apartment is OLD". My hobbies are antiquing, reading books and magazines (bring back Blueprint and Domino please), sewing, quilting, sightseeing, watching movies, and photography. I love the color red and have a retro red refrigerator (and kitchen aid mixer and ice cream maker and toaster and...) to prove it! I live in a converted high school and love decorating my loft condo (w/ 18 foot ceilings) that was formerly the auditorium. I have 3 brothers, 11 nieces and nephews, and a bus fleet of friends.
