How to talk to little girls

I read this interesting blog post on A Cup of Jo this week and I've been thinking about it since. Read it. And then read the article it refers to. Many times people have told me how cute my nieces are and I always say, "They are as funny/smart as they are cute."

Note: This picture, from 2008, is of my nieces Adrienne, Emma and (my adopted niece) Tyler (Adrienne's cousin).

I loved that article. Cora could talk about books forever. Thanks for sharing :)

I'm a culprit of offering my "Oh, you are so beautiful" comments to girls. After reading Reviving Ophelia years ago, I realized how damaging it can be to only associate girls to some type of outward beauty (or the lack thereof).

We always tell Megan how smart she is because she has a large head. One day she was talking to herself about why she was smarter than Conor --- because of her big brain!
