A lot of families take turns around the dinner table sharing their highs and lows from their day. Since it's just me and I don't talk to myself I'll share some recent highs and lows with my blog peeps.
High: New window (and seeing Wicked/spending the weekend in New York City!). Everyone in my condo building is required to replace their window(s). A year ago I signed up to get mine done. It was expen$ive and has taken this long to get done which has been fine (though I'm glad it's done before the real winter weather hits). All through the process I have asked everyone I've spoken to if I could keep part of my window. I really wanted to keep the top of the bottom window to use as a shelf because I love the molding on it. And the more I thought about it, I decided I would really love to keep the round top of the upper window. Everyone I mentioned it to said to check with the installers. So this morning when the installers got here I explained to them what I wanted to keep. I figured if they couldn't cut them for me, I would keep the window and find someone to do it for me but it seemed more complicated and how do you dispose of a window that is 6' x 16'?!? I was upstairs most of the day while they were working and at the end of the day I went downstairs and saw these two parts of the window!!! I was so happy. I live in a historical building (an old high school) and the window is my favorite feature of my condo and I'm so happy that I get to keep parts of it. I think the window is going to go on top of my piano against my red/white quilt. And I may attach the shelf on my bedroom wall to hold some pictures.
Low: Car accident(s). It was starting to snow Saturday morning on the way to New York City and my car lost control on a road in Weston and slammed into and over the curb and came to a quick stop. My friend Kimberly and I got out of the car and started to assess the situation. A minivan was about 60 feet in front of us--facing us--after a few 360's on the ice, with lots of visible damage and two flat tires. After a few minutes Kimberly suggested that I move my car so I went towards it and noticed a car coming around the corner, sliding just like we did and heading our way. I moved back away from the road and the car didn't regain control and slammed into the back left of my car and then along the entire left side and up to the front. I stood on the side of the road with my hands over my eyes in disbelief. So...my car is scheduled to be appraised, I have a rental car, and I'm hoping this doesn't impact my holiday road trip.

oh no ellen!!! so sorry about your accident! That is awful. Enjoy the rental car?! Sometimes it's fun to drive something different for awhile. :)
Oh No! I'm sorry you have such bad luck with your car. That is so sad. I'm glad no one got hurt though.
On a happier note, the window looks great! I'm glad you had a fun trip to NYC too. I hope you are still able to go on your road trip. RS on Sunday was really wonderful.
So sorry about your car. Hope it is fixed quickly.
The new window looks great though, and having that middle section openable will be awesome!
Bummer! I'm glad you are okay!!
Oh no!!!!!!

LOVE THAT WINDOW!!!! Glad they let you keep it.
Don't love the wrinkle in your back bumper, but so glad you weren't hurt.
