Friday night Campfire

I told some of the Arlington Ward Campout history (we've been coming to Camp Joseph for 25+ years) and favorite memories at the campfire tonight.  I told about the time we woke up and Jodi and Jesse Aldous had packed up in the middle of a rainy night and went home.  And the time Brian Sweeney slept under the stars and when he woke up someone had put a blanket over him.  And he felt like it could have been anyone in the ward (it was Deb Butler).  And when the Duke family hiked up Patriarch Hill and planted a tree the first campout after their dad had passed away.  And we'll never forget the year the Adams rented a RV and brought it!  The stories and memories and friendships are endless.  This is a very special place (where Joseph Smith was born) and a wonderful tradition for the Arlington Ward.  #arlingtonwardcampout2016 #arlingtonwardfriendsareforever

Chicken salad

Dewars chews

My dad was raised in Bakersfield and my Patton grandparents are buried there.  We made many trips to Bakersfield cemetery (90 minutes from where I grew up in Van Nuys) and we ALWAYS stopped at Dewars for ice cream on the way home.  My favorite treat was a black and white sundae.  They have these really good chews and my dad sent me a pound of peppermint ones that I got today.  #candyislove #pattonmemories @dewars

TBT: postcards at camp

One summer growing up, scout camp and girls camp were the same week. We had "mail call" everyday at lunchtime and Sister Swan, the camp director (who was in our ward), would stand on a chair and call your name if you got a letter. One day six girls in our ward got postcards...from six boys in our ward. Sister Swan read them all. Out loud!! They were really funny and embarrassing and I only remember what one of them said: "You are the Queen of Hearts in my deck of cards." This is a photo of the six culprits (clockwise from the top left): Brian Weisbarth, Brad Royal, Steve Arbuckle, Stephen Duford (my postcard was from him), Robert Patton, and Danny Hirschi. My mom was behind the clever prank. YW activity

Tonight for our activity we had indoor s'mores (due to rain) and talked about Girls Camp.  They all had a great time and I loved hearing about their favorite things (taco salad,fishing, the craft barn, skits, the faith hike, friends).  I told them I hope the spirit of Girls Camp stays with them all year.  #ilovethearlingtonwardyoungwomen #cambridgestakegirlscamp2016

Car mechanic

I have the best car mechanic.  My bumper has been cracked for a while but last week it made this noise that sounded like it was going to break off when I was driving on the highway.  I have a few road trips coming up so I called yesterday and he said to bring my car in today.  he priced a used bumper and it was around $300 (say what?) and he didn't like that so he worked his magic to fix it and charged me $25.  I know Grey-Patti is true.  That's the reason I recommend them to everyone (and he appreciates that).  He's honest, trustworthy, gives good advice, and is a great car guy.  #greypatti
