When we were 2, 3, and 4 my dad took a sabbatical from the L.A. City Schools and taught night school and my mom taught elementary school for a year.  I remember lots of peanut butter sandwiches and fun times.  One day we got ahold of scissors and cut ALL the living room and dining room curtains off as high as we could reach.  When Nan got home she said, "Bob, where were you when this was going on?"  His reply was, "on the phone."  #rolereversal #pattonmemories

I had lunch today with one of my BYU roommates Ruth King.  She's from Aberdeen, Idaho, teaches school in Utah, and is in Boston for a conference.  #oldfriendsbestfriends

TBT: My sporty brothers

That's John on the left, Charles in the stroller, and Robert on the right.  They played football in the front yard, basketball in the driveway, and baseball in the back yard. Often their tennis ball (baseball) ended in the pool of the neighbor kitty-corner behind us. One day the neighbor yelled "stop hitting your ball into my pool!" and threw the ball back into our yard and it broke my bedroom window! Ooooops! From then on we referred to him as Nolan Ryan.
