Aquarium with Phoebe

Godspeed, Bert

This is Bert. He was reactivated in the Arlington Ward (he's from Maine, went to BYU as a non-member, joined the church after graduating, served a mission in Italy) and his story is very interesting. He had some health issues (which left him unable to drive and work) and a change of heart and because of a visit from two members in the ward he realized he still had a spark of a testimony and he came back to church after a few decades of being away. He has served in our ward and has been the most generous friend to everyone. Today was his last Sunday in the Arlington Ward and he will be missed. He has given lots of gifts, supported fundraisers, taken the activity day girls to brunch and given them flowers, given See's suckers out to everyone one Sunday a month, shared his story and testimony. We will miss him. He is moving to Maine to live with his sister. Godspeed, Bert. #arlingtonwardfriendsareforever

I Am A Child of God

Last Sunday Isaac was sitting on the piano bench with his dad and playing this song and I wanted to videotape him but was in the middle of a conversation.  When they announced he was playing the musical number today in Sacrament Meeting I made sure to get close enough to record it.  This little boy will turn 4 this week.  He did a fantastic job.  Sadly they are moving next week but we all know that #arlingtonwardfriendsareforever.  #isaacisachildofgod

I scream for ice cream

I tried to make raspberry ice cream the other night but it didn't work and it must have been because the bowl wasn't in the freezer for a full 24 hours (22 wasn't enough?!?).  So raspberry ice take 2 tonight.  And it's delicious.  #epmakesicecream

I went to Trader Joe's tonight for baking soda and baking powder because I like their matching round containers.  When I couldn't find them I asked a worker where they were and she said, "we only have those in the winter when people bake."  I'm a mix of annoyed and confused. Blueberry picking - my first time!

I went blueberry picking today for the first time! I invited my new friends the Zimmers.  It was a really fun outing. My #epsummerbucketlist2017 is going strong (I'm 3 for 3).  I just bought bottles and pectin at the local hardware store.  Next up: blueberry jam!

Book reviews

I really like People Magazine's book reviews.  I'm partial to new fiction and People always has good suggestions (and I love that I can request library books on line).  I was reading The Awkward Age and it was dragging a bit so last night I started The Long Haul.  I'm 24 pages in and I like it.  Makes me want to plan another road trip!  #subwayreading
