Carmelitas
Carmelitas for Karla -- a belated birthday treat and thank you for covering for me while I was away from work for 2 1/2 wees. These take time to make but are worth every minute. Recipe from #kelseynixon.

V.I.P.
This is a VIP (Very Important Picture). It has been years (or maybe even the first time) that six Aaronic Priesthood holders have passed the sacrament in the Arlington Ward. And in a few weeks there will be six deacons. This is huge. #arlingtonwardfriendsareforever #arlingtonwardyouthareawesome

"My first three kids were born within 33 months. I could get in the car and drive around but I couldn't get out." --Nancy Patton

Wilson Farms
I stopped at Wilson Farms on my way home tonight and admired these sunflowers. When I got home there were some of these flowers and some gladiolas on my door step. And some apple cider donuts. #ihavethebestfriends #youknowwhoyouare #thankyou

Daniel and Krista and Jared are moving this week so we did a quick photo shoot at the Temple today. Boston's loss is Charleston's gain.

Ancestral home in Nephi
My brother John knocked on the door of this house in Nephi hoping it was the house Grandma Pitchforth grew up in. He was right! A guy from Oklahoma bought the home about 8 years ago and it renovating it. He had some family photos that he found in the house and we are pretty sure Grandma Pitchforth (Athelia Booth Pitchforth) is in the photos. The home is beautiful and the guy was so nice to show us around and tell us some stories.

The Sandy Jacobsons
Yep, they live in Utah now. Honestly, I don't know how Utah is big enough for all my Arlington Ward friends that live here now!

Serendipity in Salt Lake City
Karen Pierce called me the day after my mom died and asked if I was going to be in Salt Lake City. Her daughter Hailey's Utah reception was going to be while I was there! I told her -- "I'll be there." So tonight I made a quick stop at the end of the reception to say hello. The Pierces were in Boston for Dave to attend grad school at Tufts. They were grad school dorm resident assistants and had a sweet set up for an apartment. And they had a field next door that we called "Pierce Field" and we met there numerous times for BBQs and baseball games. It was so fun to see them briefly tonight. Hailey was a beautiful bride. #arlingtonwardfriendsareforever
Mormon Tabernacle Choir rehearsal
My dad and I had dinner at the Lion House, walked around downtown (it was our first time seeing City Creek Center) and went to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir rehearsal in the Conference Center. We tried to find our friend Leslie Walker (she is singing at Nan's funeral on Saturday) but since we were so far back I picked the wrong gal out!

The Sipherds
I miss the Sipherds. I visited them a lot (probably an embarrassingly amount) when they lived in Arlington. They are some of my dearest friends. It was really fun staying with them in Orem. And, I hadn't met the girls (Lucy ELLEN and Violet) so that was a treat. I secretly hope they move back to Boston.
The Windsors
No trip to Provo is complete without seeing a fraction of the Windsors (missing: Teddy and William). #arlingtonwardfriendsareforever
Fabric&Friends
I met Denise, my friend Emily's mom, at Just Sew in Highland. I love (LOVE) the fabric stores in Utah. And I love that quilt behind us; they gave me the pattern and I really want to make it.
Real life friend
I met a blog/instagram friend today! #ijustrangherdoorbell #shesmorecoolinreallife @alexazurcher

Friends
My friends are now friends in Holladay. Anna (L) was in the Arlington Ward and Valerie (R) is my sister-in-law's sister-in-law's sister and I met her when she lived in Boston for one year. #arlingtonwardfriendsareforever @annaslow #valerieneedsinstagram

I surprised Shelby with a quick visit. It was really fun to see their home in Salt Lake City and I enjoyed our short visit. Brandon was at work but met me on the street near his office. I sure miss the Osmonds. They are dear friends from Boston.
They have no cars
#dontmakemetakemyearringsoff
And then when I got a car it was keyless and I had to ask how to start it. Oy.

Antique hankies
I love giving antique hankies for funerals. My dad and I just raced to Aurora and hit two antique shops right before they closed and I have a nice collection of beautiful hankies for the Patton ladies. #ilovemymom

They day after
We decided to go for a drive to the coast on Sunday. Nan loved going to the coast. So we drove to Astoria (I had never been there) and then home by way of Washington State. It was nice to talk about her and be together on a beautiful summer day.

Nancy Pitchforth Patton: 1933-2015
My mom passed away peacefully this morning before 9:00am. She wanted to be buried near her grandparents who all died before she was born so her funeral will be in Nephi, Utah. Everyone is invited; I will post details when we have them. Photo from 8/8/15.
