One day in 5th grade I faked sick/didn't want to go to school. The next day my mom, a former elementary teacher, handed me my absent note written on a 4x6 lined card. It said: Ellen was absent yesterday due to general malaise. I shrugged my shoulders and took the note to school. I had no idea what "general malaise" was.
Note #1: The term "general malaise" was in a book I read last week which reminded me of this story.
Note #2: My mom made my dress and sewed those flowers on by hand and I made the crocheted headband. In case you were wondering.

As always, I love your blog. I think we had the same hairdo in the 5th grade!
