Primary Penny Parade

It was February. I was four. I remember the poster contest for the Primary Penny Parade. We had Wednesday afternoon Primary (this was back in the day). I don't remember if I had the prize winning poster or if I donated more than 9 pennies (and 2 fake dollars) but I do remember we took our pennies to Primary and someone mailed them to Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City.

What a great photo. I remember those Wednesday Primaries. Once that ended, I couldn't believe I had to go to church for 3 WHOLE HOURS.

In our stake in Washington we had a poetry contest each year. The first year the lady making the announcement said, "go home and find a poem about Primary Children's hospital" so I did just that and then won the contest, duh. My mom made me give the prize back (obviously), but the next year I wrote my own and won a ribbon again. Is that an Ensign worthy story about honesty???

I remember Primary on Wednesdays, too. Funny memories of loading the station wagon full of kids after school and heading to church. My kids think that's just wierd.
