Emmett hits the road

I went to see Emmett and his parents tonight to say goodbye.  Emmett's treatment is done and they are leaving for New Mexico in the morning.  I took them a bucket of those small chocolate chip cookies from Trader Joe's and some photocards of the top photo.  I'm going to miss seeing them but there's no place like home.

Captain Phillips

I just got home from seeing this movie.  It was really good.

My nephew Sumner went in the MTC last week and I'm going to keep a movie list for him while he's gone and Captain Phillips is the first one on the list.

Stephanie's blog has been one of my favorites for years and I met her tonight!  She's delightful!

Lillrose family photo day

The Blakes

I always say if you live somewhere like Dubuque, Iowa, nobody is going to come back and visit but when you live in Boston, people come back.  These are the Blakes; good friends and old neighbors (they lived upstairs from me in a 2-family house).  It was so great to see them today (minus Maddy who is in Spain on a mission).

Morgan Moore: multi-tasking mother of four

Little Miss Moore

My friend says I meet more newborns than a midwife!

Before I moved to New England...

...I thought you had to go somewhere to see Fall foliage.  And then I moved here and realized that the leaves on your own street are beautiful!  I took this photo this morning as I pulled out of my driveway onto Mass. Ave.

Burp cloth

I sew a burp cloth for all the babies born in our ward (a gift from the RSP) and since Eli was born in a car I thought this fabric was perfect.

Baby Eli

I met baby Eli tonight.  He's beautiful.  He has three older, adoring (it's obvious!) sisters.  Eli was born yesterday afternoon in the car on the way to the hospital; a wild experience for his parents.  They are happy he is healthy and here.  It was a sweet to hear them share his birth story.

My sewing studio

It's not really a studio, but I carved some space out of my big living room for my sewing area.  I was tired of moving my sewing machine on and off the dining room table (and I'm on the hunt for an old farm table and will need to do some rearranging to make room for one) SEW finally this weekend I moved some things around and made a sewing space for myself.  It's not completely done (I need to purge some fabric) but I'm happy with it SEW far.

Enough Said

I thought these two had great chemistry and I liked the movie.  It made me sad that James Gandolfini died over the summer.

I love living in New England

C is for competitions

These W's are one competitive group.  When they go apple picking there is a contest for the smallest apple, largest apple, and reddest apple.  And between apple picking and lunch at Parker's Maple Barn, they stop at a school playground and run an obstacle course.  I can barely keep up with them.
