Singing Sister Rebentisch

The General Relief Society Meeting was good and the best part was seeing Sister Rebentisch in the choir! Our stake had a musical program and refreshments before the meeting.

A prize winner from Emmett's party!

Yay Emmett is right!

Emmett's party

Katy did an amazing job with Emmett's party today.  There were balloons, cupcakes, popcorn, games, a photo booth, a fire truck, photos of Emmett and friends, and lots of people.  The weather was perfect and lots of people came to celebrate Emmett's 3rd birthday and end of chemo.  It was Katy's birthday today too so I got the cake that said, "AND, Happy Birthday, Katy!"  It was wonderful to celebrate with the Lillroses today!!!

Robes -- gone 15 years

Fifteen years ago today Robes passed away.  To be honest, it seems longer ago than that.  I think about him and miss him every day.  I watch his kids grow up and wish he was here to see them become amazing adults and see all the interesting things they are doing (college, travel, raising chickens!) and how much they look like him (though I have no idea where those boys got their height--I always say if cancer hadn't killed him, having boys well over six feet tall would have).  He was crazy about his kids.  I see Kim live her life without her best friend/eternal companion by her side but finding things in life to smile and be happy about.  As our parents age, I know Robes would be supportive and caring and helpful as we experience that together as a family.  The journalism/media industry has changed so much in the last 15 years but I just know Robes would have a famous blog or radio show or broadcasting gig since he was such a talented sportswriter.  Robes covered the Miami Heat for the Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel from it's inception until his death and was a well-respected prize-winning writer (on my list of things to do -- convert the video from the dedication of the Robes Patton Memorial Press Room at the Miami American Airlines Arena to a digital format) -- I'll do it soon and post it).  Robes would be so happy about the Ft. Lauderdale LDS Temple; not just because it would be a half hour drive as opposed to the three-hour drive to the Orlando Temple, but that it means the church has grown so much in south Florida and will give more saints an opportunity to worship in the Temple closer to home.  Robes has missed so much and we miss him so much but I know God is being with us till we meet again.

This photo was taken in Portland, Oregon in January of 1998 -- the last time the 4 Patton siblings were together before Robes' death.

Chuck has chicks

They have 26 chickens on their new farm!

the next Patton family missionary

Sumner's talk today was really good; he seems prepared and eager to serve his mission in Salt Lake City.  I'm looking forward to sending him letters and packages.

Hawaii time

This clock at the mall tonight reminded me of my niece who is at BYU-Hawaii.  The six hour time difference is kind of a killer for keeping in touch by phone.

Jenn's in town

Food, friends, stories (oh the stories!) and lots and lots of laughs until 2:30am.  It doesn't get much better than that.  I haven't laughed that much in a long time.  Yessica is the life of any party (she should do stand up comedy!).  It's always great  to have Jenn back in Boston.

FHE at Chick-fil-A

I wanted to hang out with these awesome folk before they moved to Utah.  How can so many people fit in that state?!?

He's the newest kid in the ward (at 2 days old).  Not for nothing, but it looks like I might be the first person he smiled at.  :)

This is Corey (one of my new favorite friends) and her mom Zenda who is visiting from Montana.  I talked to Zenda at the Clambake on Saturday and she is delightful and really funny.  I emailed Corey last night and asked if I could take some photos of them together and went over tonight after work.  I loved capturing their love and friendship.

They call them tear-downs

I drove down Follen Road today for the first time in months and I had a feeling that the White's house was going to be gone and I was right.  It had been empty since they moved and now it's gone.
